Open Venas is a comedy with a telenovela twist. The play tells the story of three generations of women: Amelia, Mami and Abuela, whilst questioning concepts of ‘motherhood’ and ‘heritage’. Amelia is in her honeymoon suite, when her mother appears from inside of her suitcase, with the sole purpose to make sure she gets pregnant. And if this meddling wasn't enough, Amelia's grandmother - Abuela - comes back from the dead to guarantee this happens. Through a series of rituals and absurd situations, they try to keep controlling Amelia's life, without considering her desires and beliefs.
